DJ Alain Jackinsky: Bring On the Noise!

Bringing a new freshness to the DJ scene, Alain Jackinsky is a maverick with roots in that Old School Cha Cha. The kind of tribal-esk beats and sickening vocals that just beg you to dance it out on the floor. His sound is unique, without pretense, and just progressive enough to make you stop and say; “what the fuck was that?” Alain knows how to please the crowd, and it’s apparent in every performance.

Alain’s interest in music started for him around the tender age of 11, when he went to his first “dance party”. “It was more a family thing in the basement” explains Alain, “but what hit me is that everyone was united and no one was judging anyone and that struck me, and then I knew right away I wanted to make people feel that way.”

Alain moved on from those humble roots, and since 2001 has become one of the new “IT” DJ/producers. He holds residencies at such lofty venues as Viva in NYC, Score in Miami, and even in Brazil at The Week. “I also am a resident of Urge Parties, Circuit Festival in Barcelona, as well as White Party and Winter Party.”

Taking some time away from his incredibly busy schedule, Alain made himself available to me for a little Q&A time. We chatted about his upcoming performance at Jungle for Peach Party, his thoughts about the weather in Montreal, and what’s coming up next for him musically.

David Atlanta: What is your favorite part about being a DJ/Producer?

Alain Jackinsky: Playing your tracks, and when you get it right to see people react well to it. It’s is a very nice feeling. And just making people dance and forget about their problems and getting down and dirty. I love that.

DA: How would you describe your style?

AJ: House music, tribal, kunty, progressive, sometimes a little tech, but don’t expect me to play EDM. (laughs)

DA: How was your time in Orlando this past weekend?

AJ: Oh I loved it! I really did! I think they did an amazing job in turning this weekend around, and I think a new tradition has begun for Gay Days Weekend. Hands up to Twisted Dee for working so hard and to Tom and Billy. If you missed this year, don’t miss next year.

DA: What can Atlanta expect from you at Peach Party?

AJ: Obviously a fierce party! New music, I try my best to play different than what most DJ’s are playing these days. I try to stay unique but always with a touch of Old School and Cha Cha. I have a good feeling about Peach Party weekend. The DJ lineups are amazing and I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun.

DA: What do you like about Atlanta?

AJ: The weather of course! (laughs) Being from Montreal and dealing with our horrific long winters is really getting too much for me. I love the energy of the crowd in Atlanta. I think it’s a beautiful city.

DA: Have you given much thought to moving down south?

AJ: I WOULD LOVE to move south of Montreal, NYC and Florida are my top choices, but I’m not there quite yet.

DA: What about your boyfriend?

AJ: Yeah, he lives in Chicago

DA: I know you’re busy, but what do you like to do for fun in your downtime?

AJ: I love the outdoors. I love walking in the park with my dog and lying on a hammock. I love going into the country but sadly don’t have much time to do it lately. I like working out and listen to my new music, and at night to fall asleep I always put on Days of Our Lives or some very girly TV show. (giggles)

DA: (laughs) Well then professionally, what do you have coming down the pike for us?

AJ: I am currently working on projects that have to be kept on the down low. My mix of Offer Nissim – “Everybody Needs a Man” is due out anytime soon, I’m also doing a remix for my good friend Eddie Martinez “Make Some Noise”. A track with Sandy B is going to be on the works, and also finishing a new original track with Michael G (the one I did “Chicky Boom” with). And then whatever else I feel and have time to do. (laughs)

DA: Any predictions as to what the “song of the summer” might be?

AJ: I think the anthem of the summer will be Rosabel’s mix of Deborah Cox
