The holidays are upon us. Whether you celebrate with family and/or friends, whoop it up in the club, or find a quiet respite on your own, it’s great to know what’s out there and available to you in this great city of ours.
I asked a few of people what their Thanksgiving traditions were and if they had a favorite dish. Here’s some of their replies.
Chi Chi Larue: I always spend it in Fort Lauderdale Florida. This year I will be doing GAYDAYS Lauderdale and then leaving on the Rupaul’s Drag Race Cruise.
My fave thanksgiving food was always my moms fruit salad made with Grapes, Canned Mandarin orange slices, Strawberries, pineapple, blueberries and melon. Then you fold it together with home made whipping cream. Yummy!!!!!
Leslie Jordan: My family has dwindled to just my twin sisters, my mother and me. We started this tradition years ago of going out to a Thanksgiving Brunch in an old Civil War mansion sitting overlooking the Tennessee River in my hometown of Chattanooga. We started this tradition so my mother, as she gets older, will not have to worry about cooking for days and doing all the dishes. But here’s the kicker: Mother still starts cooking two days before we go OUT to brunch. Why? Well, honey, we HAVE to have leftovers.
JC Cassis of XELLE: Thanksgiving dinner is a meal I look forward to all year round. I try not to eat too much, fail, and then fall asleep for hours starting at about 5pm. It’s a holiday that embodies the spirit of American in that sense.
